Thoughts from an Alumnus - Iowa

Thoughts from an Alumnus
IU vs. Iowa

Pregame thoughts: Before this game I have a feel good about the Hoosiers. We are down players, but this team keeps battling back and beating opponents that they probably should not be beating. Last game at Iowa, Jordan Hulls was battling the flu and Verdell Jones III was sitting out. The team looked down on itself and the season looked like a loss. Since then, we have lost Christian Watford, but Jones is back and they are playing like world beaters. I have a good feeling about this game with my score prediction of IU 68 Iowa 56. Let’s go Hoosiers!

Postgame thoughts: Well, I thought my guess was a pretty good one with eight minutes to go in the game! What a debacle in the final seven minutes. Granted, we are short handed and we had foul trouble, but there is no excuse for a loss like that. I don’t care if Iowa had just beaten MSU by twenty, they are still Iowa. They had two easy alley-oops after an IU break away basket because we were too busy clapping for ourselves. There were many bright spots for Indiana (Sheehey and Oladipo), but that is all they were, spots. The Pritch changed back into playing like the Pritchard that we have grown accustom to watching play for IU. Hulls had a hell of a game, but why didn’t he touch the ball the last two possessions? It seems that Verdell was bound and determined to take the last shot no matter what, and judging by Coach Crean’s reactions during the first half of the final play, I am right. We played great for thirty minutes and then played like we forgot how to play for ten minutes. Disappointment is all I can feel after this game. Bye Bye NIT bid.
